Five free things you can do in September

Here’s how to keep those Summer vibes going, and give your bank balance a rest! This month I’ve got five free things you can do, from boat trips and days out to movie tickets, beauty treatments, and even a free health check for your car!

Boat trips and National Trust days out for free

You can enjoy free days out this month, from 12 – 21 September, with Heritage Open Days. It’s an annual festival of history and culture with around 6,000 free days out for all the family.

With free entry to places that usually charge admission, you can make savings of around £20 a ticket, and there’s the chance to explore National Trust properties for free, and explore behind the doors of some hidden gems that are usually shut to to the public.

Heaps of events including boat trips, hidden clock towers and castles and even the chance to get help researching your family tree! Check what’s on in your area as you may need to pre-book some events.

Free outdoor cinema

You can still enjoy free outdoor movie screenings during September.

The Canary Wharf Summer Screens are free, and run until 27 September. Check what’s on and then just turn up in Canada Square Park with a blanket and picnic and sit back and watch the movie!

Free beauty treatments

Get a free ‘pick me up’ beauty treatment at Clarins counters.

You can choose from one of seven 10 minute mini treatments and the list includes a mini facial, eye treatment or hand and arm massage. No purchase necessary and you can book a day and time that suits you!

I’ve just been on the Clarins website and there’s plenty of availability right now this month.

Free photos – relive those summer memories!

I’ve always loved sticking all my snaps in scrapbooks and photo albums and when I get home I get them printed for free with FreePrints.

Download the app to get 45 ‘6 x 4’ inch free prints each and every month, plus special offers and freebies including photo tiles and photo books. Delivery from just £1.49

Book a free car health check

If your wheels have racked up some summer mileage, why not get a free car health check?

If you join the free Halfords Motoring Club, you can get a free 10 Point Car Check, worth £15, plus a £5 voucher. Includes checks on tyres, lights, battery, oil, screen wash and wipers. You can pay for an upgraded membership, which comes with other benefits, including two 10 point checks a year, but you’ll still get one car ‘healthcheck’ if you join with the free version!

Check with your local Halfords centre, as you may need to book a check in advance. And in the event the mechanic flags up any issues, remember you don’t have to buy any parts through Halfords and are free to shop around.
